ShortVort.com

I found not to long ago this new site http://www.shortvort.com/. It's still in the early stages, but I think its a great idea.

Here's an example:
Rosh Hashana
Dear Friends Of Hashem
In Ezras Avoseinu, the Tefila in Shachris right before Shmoneh Esreh, we say "V'nasnu Yididim Zemiros V'shiros" - the beloved praised and exalted Hashem. The question can be asked - why do we use the word Yididim - beloved friends? Since when do we refer to ourselves as friends of the Ribbono Shel Olam? Sons, slaves, but friends?

PS: Everybody add their vorts!

Hi, it's amazing what a small Jewish World it is. I saw this website and saw a link to www.shortvort.com - my website :-)

Thank you for posting it, it's a great thing to be involved in teachin Torah to Jewish people and you have done your bit here!

If you don't mind I've just typed out a brief description of what the site aims to achieve in case anybody wanted to help spread the word or contribute to writing on the site - this is more information. feel free to contact me with any feedback and I look forward to hearing from you.

ShortVort.com is the latest Jewish website -
    http://www.shortvort.com
To outline a few of its uses

1.Learn - There is a databases of short words of Torah dealing with every possible issue relevant to a Jewish life. whether you are interested in the Weekly Torah portion, deeper insights into marriage or just to have a laugh at a Frum joke - shortvort.com has it all.

2.Teach - In addition to learning Torah from reading what other people have written - everyone is invited to write their own thoughts on Jewish events. If you thought something profound at a funeral or heard something remarkable at a Shabbos table, it is a big mitzva and a great merit for any loved one (living or dead) to teach something to someone else. as an extra incentive, every 'vort' that is written on the website is entered into a free raffle to win $200 Cash.

    3. Fund - There are many different opportunities to fund the study of Torah through the website. Firstly, anyone can offer to make a straight donation which can either go to improving the website or to help someone learning in Israel. In addition, there is an option to dedicate all the Torah learnt and taught on the website as a merit for a departed one - this can be a good option if one has a yartzeit and wants to do somehting to help the soul on that day (giving charity on a yartzeit is a very worthy and noted practise) - their name will appear at the bottom of the website on every page.
There are also other options and to discuss any other these, feel free to facebook me or email me at admin@shortvort.com.

Please Please visit the website, learn from the words of Torah that have already been written from Rabbis to people who just had a nice thought on Shabbat - and write your own.
Any donations will be more than welcome and be used very wisely - Tzeddaka towards Torah study is the greatest charity you can give!
    Thank you for reading this
